These days it’s so easy to just let the kids stay inside all day
watching TV or playing games on a tablet. It’s almost summer and
that means fun in the sun, soaking up some Vitamin D! Check out these
fun ways to get your kids to go outside, stay active, and have fun!
Squirt Gun Water Races:
Poke a hole in the bottom of a plastic cup and thread string through it.
Then, tie each end of the string on a tree, post, chair, whatever you
have around. Do two of these side by side to set up the race. On “GO!”
the kids have to shoot water from a water gun into the cup to move it.
First one to get it from one end to the other wins.
Take an old water bottle and cut off the bottom. Grab a sock—if
you have any mismatched pairs of socks, those would be ideal. Slide it
over the water bottle, stretching it all the way to the top, and then
fold it back to keep it snug on the bottle. In a small container, mix
together dish soap with a small amount of water and mix until you have
a good bubble consistency. Then, dip the end of the sock in the bubble
solution and blow into the bottle to create fun looking bubble snakes.
Let your kids make outdoor art with spray chalk. Collect some spray bottles.
Ad 1/3 cup cornstarch to each bottle, then fill the reminder of the bottle
with water. Squirt in a generous amount of food coloring into each bottle
to create a variety of colors. Then let the kids have some fun on the
driveway and on the sidewalk creating their masterpieces.
